 THE little BOOK SPOT is a non-profit launched to ensure equitable access to literacy, literacy resources and the integration of literacy is afforded to all members of our community. Did you know that 54% of adults in our country lack proficiency in literacy beyond grade 6? * and that 67% of Hispanic immigrants in the US are illiterate?** As our community becomes more diverse and as the Latino/Hispanic community continues to grow, the success of Latinos is the success of the United States of America. In 2009, one in nine children enrolled in our K-12 public schools was categorized as having Latino / Hispanic descent.  By 2025, just a mere few years away, it will be one in four children. Studies show how well a child reads by 3rd grade will determine his or her chances of graduating from high school on-time.
